I've heard of growers removing fruit from young trees in their orchards to promote the growth of roots and branches instead of fruit. I wonder if removing the seeds from young maples would provide a significant benefit.

If you do it before the seed forms you might have a point but doing it after they form is pretty pointless- the energy has already been expended.
Maples are fairly vigorous trees and won't set seed until they are ready. I would think that the amount of energy you would be saving the tree would be negligible and not worth the time.
So no- not a significant benefit.
