I think I killed my maple!

I had a maple in a pot for the past 5 years sitting in my shade garden. It has done amazing. I noticed water standing in the pot 2 days ago and tried to tip the pot over to drain it. Well, the root had grown through the drain hole, blocking it, and grown into the surrounding area. The root broke off and I decided I might as well just plant the tree in the ground. I broke the ceramic pot and placed the tree in a hole, level to where the dirt was previously. We have had over 15" of rain in the past 2 weeks in my area, so our yard is literally flooded! This morning the tree was laying on its side do to being pushed up from the water. I tipped it back into the hole and place a heavy block to steady the root ball. The leaves are droopy. Is there any hope!
