Will my Japanese maple live? Help please

I bought 5 japanese maples in the fall at lowes. The rabbits chewed on 3 of them this winter and they are dying. 2 of the trees are getting shoots on the bottom of the truck(below where the rabbits chewed) and starting to grow. Do you think that i should cut the tree off where the rabbits chewed and hopefull maybe the tree will grow again? Has anyone had any experience with this problem? Thanks for your help.

Hey bigbud I know that has to be a sinking feeling ,but without photos its hard to get a feel for the extent of the damage.

I sure hope my tree will survive. I took a few pictures but i am not sure how to post them on. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Thanks
