Enhancing the look of tree bark/skin ("wet look")

Hi,

This may be an odd question, but I'm wondering if any of you are aware of anything you can put on a tree trunk to bring out the natural color/texture. I have several healthy, beautiful crepe myrtles in in my front yard, and the trunk and branches are so pretty when they're wet, but they're a dullish white when they dry. Is their anything I can rub in it to maintain that wet look (like you would tung oil, polyurethane, etc. on furniture) that won't harm the tree or surrounding plants?

Thanks!
