Red Sunset Maple

I have replaced a sunset maple (it died) with a sunset maple. I have concerns regarding the color of the leaves. I planted this tree in early to mid fall last year. The tree came back great in the spring, but I have a concern with the coloring of the tree. The coloring is a light green with pink/redish leaves. It looks like it is getting ready for it's fall foilage (it is the 26th of may). I am watering the tree with aprox. 2-3" of water per week (is this too much) Could there be any other issues with this tree. Thank you for your help

RE: Red Sunset Maple

New growth on maple trees is often tinged with red, especially red maples! It doesn't sound unusual. Also, it would be hard to over-water your maple, since red maples can grow in swampy conditions. If you're really worried post a picture of it.

About the watering, that also depends allot of the soil, climate, and what it's been doing lately. Where are you located? i.e. I'm in Northwest Arkansas. For here, at this time, 2-3 inches a week would be way too much water, probable even for a red maple that likes water.
