Crimson Queen Japanese Maple

We have had a Crimson Queen Japanese Maple near the house for the past three years. We were gone for two weeks from April 28 to May 11 and during that time there were several frosts here. The leaves all look dead. I was wondering if it will recover or if this will kill the tree. Thanks for any help.

break off a tiny branch and see if it turned brown or if its still green on the inside.
