Garnet Japanese Maple

I went to the garden center at Lowes and found a Garnet Japanese Maple, about 4 feet tall and nice and full. I want to put it next to a pond but I am worried about how hardy this tree will be in my zone 5 western Michigan garden. Where I will be putting it is near the foundation on the south facing side of my house.

Any advice will be appeciated. Thank you.
