Bark stripped off on Acer palmatum

I received an Acer palmatum ('Beni Otake') shipment the other day in which the trunk had a small strip (0.25 inch x 1 inch) of bark missing, presumably from rubbing against the wooden stake inserted into the pot for shipping purposes.

There doesn't seem to be any damage deeper than just the stripped off piece of bark. Tree looks otherwise healthy at 4-feet high, leafing out reasonably well.

Is there anything that I should do to protect the tree, like something to apply, cover it up, protect from insects, etc.? Or should I just let it be and let it heal on its own?
