My Big Maple Is Looking Sick

I just noticed today that my big Maple has some brown wilt. I have looked on several sites and do not see anything that looks just like what my leaves are showing.

Can anyone tell from pictures what this is? I have some pics but do not see a way to post on this site. Is it serious? Can I do anything about it? If so, what?

Leaves on our big maple turned black - almost like they had been burnt.
Folks at the nursery said it was common this year, and not to worry about it.
Hope they're right.

Mine has similar looking stuff. It flared up over a few days about a month ago. The new foliage looks clean. Glad to hear that it's probably not something to worry about.

All the info I found on line seemed to indicate that maples commonly get crud on the leaves and it's not a big deal.
