coral bark maple ice damaged

Back in early Spring I posted a message about my coral bark maple that was the victim of a heavy fallen limb of another tree that came down during an ice storm. It was one of the first plants I bought for my new home and I was sentimentally attatched to it. I glad to report back that now, several months later, it is doing very well.

It took a long time to leaf out and I would make small scrapes on the bark to make sure it was even still alive. I meant to pull it out and trash it several times but never got around to it. I did nothing to it but clip the ragged breaks.

It is doing very well and has a lot of leaves. It is mop topped right now but I am hoping that the new branches will grow out over time. So sometimes it pays to procrastinate.
