I am a bonsai hobbiest, fond of japanese/oriental maple trees. In general, I am interested in tree cultivars with small leaves and brilliant fall colors. Dull dark red or purple spring leaves are a negative. I have seen trees in nurseries on the west coast that have tiny bright red spring leaves, red twigs and I imagine red fall folliage. Can anyone help me identify the cultivar of such a tree? Is there a maple tree farm in Virginia to find such species?
