Japanese Maple Variety

Hello All.

We just moved into a new home with zero landscaping, of course. We'd like to plane a Japanese maple as the "cornerstone" of our front landscaping, but are difficulty finding the perfect variety. We're in central Iowa (zone 5) and would like a tree between 12-15 feet in height with a smaller spread (8-10 feet). All of our local big-box stores have bloodgoods, but they're a bit taller and wider than we're looking for. From searching on this forum, I've read a bit on the firefly variety. Would this be the best choice for what I'm looking for? Any other suggestions? We're going to call around the local nurseries to see if they have whatever variety we choose...otherwise I guess it will be an online purchase?

Thanks for the help!
