Laceleaf Maple

We have a one year old Laceleaf Maple that is about 3 feet high. Until this week it has looked fine but then all of a sudden it's leaves have curled and turned brown. It's getting water and it's not hot out so what could be the problem.

Verticillium wilt, bacterial blight...scroll through other thread titles for related discussion. Japanese maples are prone to disease problems these days.
