Moving new tree

I planted a young Japanese Maple in April. I'm not completely happy with where I put it and would like to move it. I'm thinking this would be the worst possible time to move it with the summer heating up. Would it be better to move it in the fall before it goes dormant, or wait until spring before it breaks dormancy?

RE: Moving new tree

Fall would be best just after the leaves drop off. Late winter before it buds would be second best.
