Hi all

I just put a Korean maple in my garden...its beautiful

It has seed pods on it and I wondering if I can grow more from theses seed pods... if so do I need for them to drop off the tree or can I pluck them off ... I'm afraid if they fall I'll loose them!!!

Ter

They will probably require stratification, and there is always the chance that it may have been pollinated by another maple and so not breed true.
    That said, try it!

Run a search over in the seed sowing forum to get the particulars on the cold treatment.

    Ter,

Actually, your germination rate will improve if you don't wait for them to fall off the tree, but pluck them when they're ripe. That said, they won't ripen until around September. That would be a good time to remove some, clean the seeds, and stratify them for ~ 3 mos. Do all that, and you should have a nice crop of seedlings.
