Branches Growing at BASE of Autmn Blaze Maple??

HI. I have a 4 year old Autumn Blaze Maple that has just finally started growing pretty fast - it's now at about 15'. Suddenly there are two vertical branches growing out of the base of the tree. At first I thought they were growing out of the ground, but closer inspection shows they are growing out of the base of the tree down near the mulch. SHOULD I CUT THEM OFF? Thanks!

They are probably even coming out below the graft line. If they are then they won't be AB Maple, but whatever the parent root stock is.

In any case, get rid of them.
