The pictures are beautiful. I wish I had the nerve to prune my weeping maples so that the structure would show.

I stopped going to Butchart Gardens. The last time, we were there, we arrived at dusk. I first noticed that no birds were chirping. I thought that a bit odd, but then I realized there were no butterflies, no mosquitoes, no bugs of any kind that I could see. I assumed that they poison the heck out of that place and I have never felt the same way about it since. I would love to hear that I am wrong and that it is my powers of observation that are faulty, but I was a naturalist and spent 10 years on a plant and animal conservation site.

Thanks for the great pics! I love the maple in the 4th photo. I just keep staring at it - unsure if it is a tree pretending to be a bunch of snakes or a bunch of snakes pretending to be a tree. Anyway, it is my favorite- wonder how old it is.
