How to tell if a Japanese Maple is grafted?

I'm wondering if I have a sucker below the graft?

I have recently learned about grafting. We bought 3 Japanese Maples at home Depot. Crimson Queen Acer variety. I think I can tell where the big one was grafted. But one of the little $15.00 ones, I'm not so sure. He has all red leaves that are turning a slight green now on top. About 6 inches off the ground there is a branch coming off that has GREEN leaves. They don't look as feathery as the top leaves. About 3 inches above this new growth is what might possibly could be a graft. If it is one it's hard to tell. The new branch is growing like wildfire and seems to hae more straight out growth, versus the loose hangy type of branches on the rest of the tree.

I would hate to clip off a branch that is true Crimson Queen. Would a true crimson queen grow GREEN new growth. Would the new leaves look as feathery as the older leaves?

Waht is the trick to posting pics in a post and i will add some pics to the post to help!

Thank you!
