I want to plant a Japanese Maple (Imperial) 5 feet from my in-ground pool, anyone know how deep/wide the roots will go and whether this may damange the pool walls in a few years?

RE: Japanese Maple (Imperial) root system

Japanese Maples are shallow rooted but not invasive, like our native red and sugar maples. You should be fine. You can always root pune if you're worried, or put a plastic barrier between the side of the pool and the tree.
