I planted 3 Japanese Maples this spring. I check them every couple of days. They've all been doing great until yesterday when I saw this:

I've been looking online. It doesn't look like Japanese Beetle damage. And after going through the leaves/truck/stems carefully, I couldn't find any bugs at all.

So far, only the Bloodgood seems to be affected. My little Emerald Lace right next door is fine. We have had some issues with something eating basil and pepper leaves so maybe it's migrating. It seems like it is mostly affecting the lower leaves. The upper one's (as much as I can tell) are fine.

Any ideas or advice would be great. I'm planning on going by the garden center where we bought this but won't have time until the weekend.
