One is singular dead branch, vert wilt?

Hello, I have a few questions regarding two maples near each other. We had a maple that's probably 15-20 years old get struck by lightning two years ago. The other side that wasn't struck has had full green foliage for two seasons and seem healthy. However I noticed a small new branch that had leaves wilt near the bottom of the tree where other new growth is near and it seems fine. I also noticed on the other maple(50 year old) one singular branch with brown dead leaves, halfway up the tree. I do think the lightning struck tree has tar spots (it's had it before) could this also be verticillium wilt? Or am I just paranoid? We really love these trees and don't want them damaged.
