what is wrong with my maple trees (pics)

I am new to growing maples. Have a Red sunset and an october glory. The red sunset was planted a few months ago, and the october glory is in a pot still(waiting to move a japanese maple this fall).

I have seen a lot of post recently about crispy leaves and wondering about watering. Here are some pictures of the leaves on the red sunset. The leaves turn brown and curl up and die. It has been really hot here the last few weeks, so I dont know if that will cause this.

I have two maples that look the same right now, along with many other plants in my yard. I spoke with someone at the nursery about it and was told we had a moth infestation that occurred due to a warm spring (happens about once every 17 years or so). They told me they're fine and next year everything will look great. I can't say for certain it's the same thing, but you may want to talk to someone at your local nursery about it, they'll probably have a better idea about what is going on in your area.
