Since your seedlings won't be the cultivar, being seedlings rather than grafts even if the parent plant is a cultivar...

Maybe I should clarify:

A seedling from a Japanese Maple, even if it came from a named cultivar like 'Bloodgood', will not be true to the parent plant. Only a clone, created by grafting part of the parent plant to a generic understock plant (usually a green JM seedling) will be true to the parent.

All seedlings have a different genetic makeup from the parent plant, just as all children are different from their parents.

That being said, the parent tree here is most lovely, but its nearly impossible to tell if its a named cultivar just by looking. There are hundreds of named JM cultivars!
