What sort of Acer Palmatum ?

Hello all. I recently bought this Japanese Maple without any name tag or discription.
Can anybidy help me identify this ?

    I don't know the variety, but I can say for sure it's rootbound.

    Certainly impossible to tell without much closer detail and even then, could be extremely difficult. The differences in many cultivars are so slight as to be almost indistinguishable except by experts (and even they have trouble). If no apparent graft then very likely just a species selection - straight Acer palmatum.

    EDIT: I am going to add that if you purchase an unidentified selection of Japanese maple from any source other than a reputable JM nursery, then don't ask what cultivar you have. Chances are it will NOT be a named form (most likely just a seedling) and even if it is, correct identification is highly unlikely.

    And I'd agree the pot looks a little on the small side for that size tree for any length of time.
