It is normal!!! depending on where ya live as mine do the same thing this time of year although One of mine has a bunch of new red growth the other NONE ...which yours will likely develope ( new red growth) but it depends on where you are ...that it why it is important to put your state and zone on your post or in your profile!!!!!! It's been really hot and if yours is in full sun or full shade it will most likely be pretty greenish right now if your having the heat we are having or it's not getting enough sun ...it's always a small window of placement for many red varieties...Mine stayed red til about a couple of weeks ago and still are reddish but the grren is taking over( mine are in full sun all day) ...as I said most likely natural!! My recently planted crimson queen was green when I got it. It had some red on the tips but mainly green. It is planted it full sun with partial shade in early morning. I live in IN and it has been very hot here the last several weeks. Will it change colors or did the nursery give me the wrong plant. I'm confused!!

Isn't it a Crimson King, Acer platanoides, rather than Crimson Queen? Sometimes called Red Norway Maple.
I've kept mine small. Real small. By trimming it throughout the season it will have red new growth.

There is a very popular red, laceleaf cultivar of J. maple known as 'Crimson Queen'. It is known for holding its color very well in sun (wine-red leaves can turn to more scarlet-red in intense sun) but it will bronze up (or green out) if grown in much shade.

In general, most red leaved Japanese maples hold up to sun very well with regards to leaf color. Some varieties more so than others :-)
