Can a Threadleaf Maple branch repair itself? HELP!

I have an approx 27" tall Acer Palmatum "inaba shidare" tree in a container and one of the top growing branches (1 of 3), by accident, snapped and is being held on by a thin piece. I immediately placed the branch back in its original position and held it in place by wrapping plant velcro around the breakage point and used copper wire for support to hold the branch in place. I did not notice any sap coming out.

Is there any chance this branch can be saved? what are my options?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
