Seeking Japanese maple recommendations

We live in northern Virginia and are looking for an upright Japanese maple.

Can anyone please recommend a few varieties that will be: 20-25 feet tall at maturity, will have green spring and summer foliage (not red) , will have bright orange-yellow fall color with a translucent quality, and will have larger leaves?

Has anyone had success with Acer palmatum Hogyoku? Is this the best orange-yellow upright?

Can anyone please recommend a reputable nursery that specializes in Japanese maples in the mid-Atlantic or on the East Coast? We'd like to purchase a larger specimen and will travel with a truck!

Thank you!

'Hogyoku' certainly hits all your marks - it is a very handsome tree and with rather unique fall coloring. Typically described as pumpkin orange :-)

'Sango Kaku' or the coral bark maple routinely develops peachy-orange fall foliage in my area, plus offers a lot of winter interest. Leaves are not large, however.

Another to consider is 'Saoshika', which has larger leaves, orangey-gold fall color and a translucent appearance when backlit.

Sorry, I can't help you with any local suppliers :-) If no response here, try your regional forum.

Check out Acer palmatum 'Duncan & Davies'. This will be available in spring at Maplestone Ornamentals.
Also go to the Japanese Maple page and check out the Japanese Maple Reference Chart for comparing height and seasonal leaf color.
