Orange maple in heavy clay soil

Looking to add a maple that turns orange in fall to our backyard in which we have a very heavy clay soil. Have been warned against a sugar maple as it can be very hit or miss with them growing and surviving very long in clay. Have talked to some tree farms in the area for their opinions and was told the green mountain variety of sugar maples will stand a better chance, along with the Pacific Sunset maple. But have heard differing reviews, so not sure if I can completely trust that the tree farms aren't just trying to sell off their remaining stock.

Does anybody have any experience with either of these trays in a heavy clay soil? From research, both will grow great in our zone, but haven't been able to find much about what soil types they can tolerate and thrive in.
