Species Acer palmatum palmatum

I'm having an impossible time finding a good-sized specimen of the species, Acer palmatum palmatum.

I understand that this native of Japan is supposed to grow larger than any of its cultivars, and I want to use it as a backdrop for two smaller palmatums. (Vertrees claims that this species may grow up to 50 ft in its native region, and my region -- western Oregon -- happens to resemble Japan.) This tree also has the nice tiered look of the other palmatums, unlike any other large maples that I know about.

Suggestions? Do you know any suppliers in Oregon or Washington? Any reasonable alternatives?

Try ForestFarm.com (if not on their website e-mail them and ask), they're in Oregon and do mail order, great company I've used many times.

Thanks, wynswrld98! They do have them. I've never ordered a large tree through the mail before, but it might be worth a try if I can't find one closer to home (northern oregon).

These are WHOLESALE operations, so you may need a go-between, but try Patterson Nursery and R&H Nursery in the Sandy/Boring area....if anyone has/can find then, it is those two.
