I found this but it is not well known may be one of many newer selected seedlings May be same or similar ( sounds like it but no leaf description to confirm that) to Sherwood Flame or Burgandy Lace and as so oft happens some BOZO mixed up the name or two names and just kept it ?? This is all i got others might have more definitive info...but I can say this is NOT a widely grown cultivar as stated below at least by THAT name ;>)!!!! David

Thanks, I did find this as well but wasnt sure if this can be trusted as the same description was available to many other varities. I wonder if its same as Burgundy Lace. I couldnt tell the difference between it and Bloodgood. I have emailed Worldplants.com and I am hoping they will have some clue.

You might try to call them...If my memory serves me which isn't a given , they are bad with email... if you have to make a "quick" decision because of a sale or other considerations a phone call is best. There are lots of bloodgood "type" trees...As I said leaf form will tell you ifit is similar or the same as Burgandy Lace or Sherwood Flame ..... not a definitive answer but a clue ...go back and look at the leaves if they are deeply devided Matsumurae then you have a pretty good idea it is likely one of those two or VRERY similar .... absolute ID of any JM is virtually impossible ...if you like the tree it DON'T matter ...if you want a pedigree you may think twice about buying with so many hundreds of other named cultivars with histories and defined growing patterns you can get from many reputable dealers!!!
