| Hi can anyone identify this maple leaf, or even confirm that it is a maple)? It is from a tree growing not far from a creek on a trail in Santa Barbara. Elevation 900 ft. There are just a few of these tress in an area with mostly sycamores.
I think it looks similar to Acer macrophyllum, but the leaves are only about six inches across. Thanks Stephen |

| Thanks bboy. That makes sense, it is surrounded by large sycamores, so it doesn't get a lot of sun. Although most of the leaves are 6-8 inches I found a few that were about 10" So I will assume it's macrophyllum until the spring when I will confirm by looking at the flowers, and then the fruit. |
