Japanese maples, potted, & crocus bulbs

I have some potted trees that appear to be quite happy. I also have some crocus bulbs searching for a home, and no yard to naturalize them in. I was wondering if it would hurt my potted trees (3 Japanese maples and 1 ficus) if I stuck crocus bulbs in with them..? I wouldn't be doing a whole repot, nor would I be dumping more soil in the pots, I'd just take a dinner knife, or skinny trowel, make my hole, and plop in the bulb. I don't mind wasting the bulbs (cheapo, even though pretty) but I do NOT want to damage my trees.

Whats the advice on this?

It should look very good. I would say that as long as you aren't cutting or otherwise damaging roots of the trees, it should be fine. Just go into the soil very gently.
