Is now a good time to plant a JM in the ground?

Thinking of putting a potted JM in ground, not sure if this time of year is ok to do it.

Need more information. What Sunset climate zone are you it?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by Sunset zone. USDA Hardiness zone is 9, Bakersfield, CA. Winter starts around late November until March. Coldest temps are Jan and Feb (40s), hottest temps (90s to low 100s) and dry are June, July, August. Sep is when things start to be a bit cooler. The JM in question is a Crimson Queen, currently in a 5 gallon pot.

In that kind of a climate this time of year would be a very good time to plant out.

I concur. Plant it where it will not get your full summer sun and out of the wind, if possible. Don't let it dry out during winter rain storms. Don't plant it too low, a little on the high side since it will settle with time as the acid planting mix decomposes.
