| I bought an acer griseum on sale in November. It has a single leader and looks like a five foot pencil. Any ideas for sub shrubs that would enhance the color of the bark? Right now it looks more pink and white, but I guess it will eventually be orange.
Also does it matter if it gets morning or afternoon sun? I suspect that the cold will be a bigger issue than the summer sun. |

| Bark damage more likely with eastern exposure. Gray or silvery foliage looks well with the trunk colors. Also purplish. So you could have gray junipers and/or ones that turn purplish in winter - if there is enough sun in the spot. |
