 o
plant sellers - where do you get supplies (pots, bands, soil)

I'm looking to sell starter plants - so cell packs, bands, what do you use? and where do you get them? I've looked at a couple band suppliers - shipping adds close to 50% to the cost. Is that typical?

In my experience, yes. We go and pick it up now. For a while we could get a bulk deal from a local garden cneter and that was cheaper then mail order...

I don't know where in NJ you are but Griffin Greenhouse Supplies has two locations in NJ, Bridgeton and Ewing for commercial growers. You should come up with some sort of business name and get some business cards printed up. That's about all you need. You would have to buy inserts and trays etc. in full cases of 100. Soil mix whatever you need. There's a minimum for delivery but not for pickup.

Lisa,

I've bought from Griffins in Ewing and found their prices for cell packs and trays to be pretty good. It's only a half hour from my house so it's also pretty convenient.
