Thanks for the link, it told me more. Has anyone actually grown them. I have a source for a small amount of bulk seeds, and I'm not sure if I want to try them or not.

The banana cantaloupe has been around since Noah stepped off the ark. Essentially a variant of The Armenian cucumber. It has kept a limited availability over the years as a novelty. I have not grown them since the 50's as the flavor does not suit my taste buds. Sweet with a cucumber aftertaste. Easy to grow, and get large (about 4 lbs).

I grew these a couple years ago. I got the seeds from Baker Creek. Didn't care for the flavor; mine didn't really sweeten up, but it may have been more of a weather related thing. The texture was nice, very creamy flesh.
