nice blog. Planning is one of the most complex parts of the business - you do a good job of presenting the process. You might explore using Google Calender for keeping daily records, it gives you a great data-base to refer to over the years (be sure to back it up)

I'd be interested - I started an Excel spreadsheet based on Fedco and Johnny's last year (I also hate to thin, and was going off the Square Foot Gardening spacing). Gave up after I lost so many plants that there was no way I could track yield in any meaningful way.

Hi Miles Away, I am sorry I forgot your name, you know me from the market. I am the manager and also have a booth. I have been trying to use quickbooks to keep records, have tried other things in the past. None work very well for me, my fault, when the season is going paperwork doesn't get done regularly.

I am getting ready to plant some broccoli and onions, start them in the house and move them to the greenhouse when they have sprouted. I have cilantro and spinach out there now that I planted in Oct. It doesn't grow very fast in this cold. Sure will be glad when the ground thaws.

I have been a member of this forum for a lot of years, don't post much but do find a lot of good info on it.

Looks like a lot of info in your post- I will go back and read it more carefully. I've pasted together an excel workbook over the years, and am trying to reaaally keep good records this year. The Johnny's seed starting calculator is helpful, as you noted.
BTW, have you tried starting beets inside? I did it last year, and I'm not sure how much it helped. but I think I'll try again this year. Where I live (still under a foot of snow) every week earlier you can get something to market is important.
