Credit/Debit Machines at Markets

| I know some markets have a Credit/Debit Machines for their markets. I can see this as a benefit to attract younger people. If you use/have one are they being used? How do you have one? Was it bought by your association, from a grant or rented, wireless or corded?
Do any individuals/farms have their own? How much does it cost? Is it worth it? Where did you get it?
Just getting ideas for myself and for our market meeting.
Thanks,

| Our market has gotten a grant to try EBT's this year. There will be one and the buyers will be issued some type of credit in the amount of the transfer. They'll do their marketing and give the vouchers or whatever they're going to call them to the vendor. At the end of the day, the vendor will turn them in to the market manager and they'll cut them a check for the amount. I have no idea if it's going to work or not. Janet |

2 of the towns with markets where we sell do not have wireless available, so we cannot use the machines. You might want to make sure signal is available in the markets. Steven |

I sell at market and accept credit cards. I have one of those old "knucklebuster" machines with the carbon copy slips. You go ahead and fill it out at the market and then key it in your virtual terminal on the computer when you have the time. Be sure and get the billing address, not the address where the person lives, and a current phone number just in case there's a problem. We use securepay.com--it costs about $30 a month all told. |
