What I use is a KY cultivator when I use anything besides an old fashioned hoe.

I finally looked at the link. It is a cute little thing, I don't think it would do alot of work, tho.

At the conference in Southern IL this month, the BCS salesperson was there with machines. Now that's a machine, we were afraid to price it. I know it was more than we could afford. BCS is the 'cadillac' of tillers.

I think rhat would be pretty useless. the plow would be too light to really bite into the soil. of course I find mantis style tillers useless in a market garden. my wheel how will do as good as job and use zero gasoline.

We have 2 BCS walking tractors and have a plow for them and it has done a good job of turning over sod (we have put in around 300 4' 50 and 4' x 100' beds in the past 5 years). they are nice machines and worth the $5K they cost, but if you have more than 4 acres it makes more sense to get a Kubota, and Allis Chalmer's G or other small tractor

I have more than 4 acres under cultivation, and we have an old 1949 Massey-Harris 44 gas, without 3-point, an old disc and a borrowed chisel plow. Thank goodness for friends. Now I need to find a planter, I can borrow one, but would like to own my own one day.

After getting the tractor, our front tine tiller, doesn't have to work SO hard.

I'm not looking for a sod-buster. Just something I can attach to the tiller and make a furrow to plant potatoes in. If I an raise it and make a less deep row for beans, peas, carrots, chard, etc., that would be a side benny! I don't need to dig potatoes

we do use the plow for the tater beds but never anything we direct seed. Probably because we have seeders and they do the furrowing for us. But if we did not have a seeder we would use a rake as a plow would go too deep I would think as for most seeds you want under an inch of depth.
