| Who grows potatoes for Farmers Market? I grow 5 varieties with 3 colors. I think they are one of the easiest money makers. If they don't sell one week, they will easily keep until next week.
I am planting 125 pounds this year. Yes, that is alot. Last year I ran out of potatoes, to sell, by the 3rd of August. This year I am adding one more market full time.
How much do you plant? |

| We do 7 kinds of potatoes and around 400 pounds planted in 3 successions starting in April and ending in early July so we have taters through March for sale |

| taters are a good money crop. we do Red Golds(50#), Russian Banana(25#),French fingerling(25#),Kennebec(50),red Norland(100), Yukon Gold(100). I was doing 25# of Cranberry or All Red but they only market well to a small group so dropped them for this year. Going to do a test run on Crescents in 08. I plant them all at the same time and begin digging the Norland & Yukons at bloom for new taters. Those Russian Bananas can be cut in quite small sections so the yield is high for 25# of seed stock. |

| fancifowl and boulderbelt- Wow, you sure grow alot of spuds! Last year I grew All Blue's and and they were a huge success! I wanted to grow Cranberry Red or All Reds this year. More as a novelty. I could not find any seed potatoes locally. I know I can order them online, but the prices are soo high and the shipping is outrageous. I will try again next year. Unless someone knows of a reasonable supplier? |

I don't know how far you are from Kansas City but Planter's Seed usually has several varieties of seed potatoes available in bulk. They are located at 5th and Walnut in the Rivermarket Section of KC. http://plantersseed.com/ I bought Yukon Gold this year. 50lb bag. |
