RE: Which fruit to grow?

Are you doing market research? The fruits sound interesting. I haven't heard of most of them. Which of these grow in the US?

Wow. Some job to rate them to give you any meaningful information. Do I count if my family likes the fruit but I don't personally like it? The point being that I would buy it to serve them even though I wouldn't be eating it. What about multiple uses? Processed is a very broad range--for instance, processed pawpaw includes pawpaw bread, pawpaw ice cream, and pawpaw custard. If I like it the way I prepare it (so I would buy it), but I've had it at restaurants where I didn't like it (so I wouldn't buy it), which way does that go? Does adding passionfruit to tea make it processed or is that fresh? Is including it in fruit salad processing it--since you're mixing flavors--or is it fresh? If you put jam between the layers of a cake, is that jam or processed? Oh, and I considered jelly and jam as the same.

3F,4P persimmon
5F,5P paw paw
4F,5P fig
4F,5J,5P gooseberry
3F,5J,5P currant
3P mulberry
5F kiwi

2P service berry/Amelanchier alnifolia
4F,5P lingonberry
3P wintergreen
3P salal
5F,5P passionfruit

Any of the others I've had didn't make it worthwhile to remember, so I wouldn't bother.

RE: Which fruit to grow?

We personally grow jujubes for market. Generally they're marketed to the asian community, but we're having great sucess marketing them to our predomitaly caucasion community. Personally we've tried and failed growing many of your listed varieties but my favorites are
paw paw, persmmons, pitaya, mulberry, white sapote, wax jambu, starfruit, jaboticaba, cherimoya, & sapodilla. Figs are wonderful but I wouldn't consider them rare.

You bet! You might want to add Cherimoya (5f) to the list. Related to pawpaw and a flavor of sweet fruit custard. Also, mango (5fp), Papaya (5fp), pineapple-guava (5p), Lychee, and banana (5fp, many less common varieties not found in stores as they don't ship well.)
