walking onions information

I am having a hard time getting this posted. If more than one message I am sorry.

When does one remove the seed pods on top? What about replanting? I got some plants a couple of months ago and they already have heads. Looks like they will replant themselves but looks like it would be hard to dig the onions with new plants mixed with the original. Also looks like that I planted them to deep (2>3" or so) and they are hard to dig.

RE: walking onions information

I've never grown them, but I found some info at the site below that seems to cover the answers to at least some of your questions. If you need to Google for more info, they're also called 'Egyptian onions'.

Here is a link that might be useful: Walking, or Egyptian onions
