starting a market garden

Hello all
I have a quandary!
I would like to establish a market garden.
My problem is the depth of soil.
More less a foot of sandy loam and then bedrock.
Water retention is obviously an issue
Should I not bother trying or is there hope?

Read up on hydroponics. Maybe possibilities there. Looking into it myself. The decisions to be made are whether or not the initial cost of set up and chems, if you go that route are cost effective.

Raised beds will solve that problem.
