Growing barley in a high-tunnel?

Okay I know this is a weird question, but would it be possible to grow barley in Texas during the winter if I used a high tunnel to protect it from frost?

I grow tomatoes, okra and a few other crops for market in the summer, but I get bored with winter crops and thought this might be a fun undertaking for next winter. Any thoughts are appreciated.

That depends a lot on where you are in Texas. Barley in the vegetative stage is tolerant of frost down to -9 Celsius (16 F). It is less tolerant when heading and maturing, but that would depend on when it's going to mature. March? Do you get March frosts? These would be important considerations. You should also weigh the risk of frost vs the risk of continual heat stress in a high tunnel.
