I'm so sorry for you. With the rains that we have had, I'm not really surprised, just disappointed for you.

All my plots are on a slope. Close to a 2 foot drop in 64 feet. I run all my beds across the slope. I also leave 5-8 foot grass strips between plots. These grass ways are drive ways. It also slows any running water down. I have raised beds in all these plots or potatoes hilled up. Once I get a big them all mulched, I hope for a real big rain. If that happens, the water will sit between the rows and soak in. The straw will hold the moisture and I usually don't have to water the rest of the season.

Sorry it has been such a rough start. Hope things start working for you.

Hey, with every door that closes, a new one opens. I only have about 140 linear feet in my backyard I can donate to peas/beans but that's probably as good as the 400 linear feet at the other garden - at least it is much better ground, plus I can water it if I need to.

Another plus - it happened now instead of this summer when not only would I have invested a bunch of time, but been counting on the produce. So I will be delayed a couple of weeks longer. Worse things can happen!
