Mike, see if you can get some manure hauled in at the same time. So much dirt that is hauled in is not good dark soil. If you can get some manure, then you will be admending at the same time.

Mike is planning on bring up horse manure from the fairgrounds. Once the piles are spread and manure applied, come late August I will sow Crimson Clover and maybe wheat. Plow that stuff under in the spring and I should be adding a lot of organic matter!

I'm amazing at the difference between our ground. On one side of driveway, we've been planting veggies and on the other size, traditional corn/beans. On the side of veggies, it's now dark, black, rich soil and the other side is a sandy color soil.

It's going to take several years of manure and TLC to get the 'other' side up to the standards of the 'veggie' side.

Our clover is coming back from years and years ago, I haven't planted any, and I came back home in 1999. It's coming up volunteer and I love it.
