I haven't planted after potatoes, but I have planted on June 20th with success. I was still able to get good sized squash before the end of market. Our frost date is October 15th or so, but market ends October 31st and I had squash by end of September.

My father in law plants pumpkins around July 1 and always has success, he lives 100 miles south of me. I am just out of space and I am needing more produce to sell this winter. I have the market for it, I just need to grow it.

I always plant some in July. Most years it does fine even though total production is lighter. I think this is due more to declining daylight rather than temperature. Sometimes, tho' it can be a little tough to get it cured well. The main problem around here is stink bugs. They can devastate a late planting of squash.
