Mix 1 TBLSPN Miracle Gro and 2 TBLSPN Ortho Bugs-B-Gone (bifenthrin) per gal water and apply at transplant. If you are in Canada, you can still use Orthene instead of the bifenthrin (1/4 tspn,gal).

tablespoon of Epsom salts (or sul po mag if you are certified organic) and a cup of compost per planting hole. I have not heard of Borax but I will assume it's for Boron so for that minute amounts like well under an 1/8 teaspoon per hole. And if you are doing this organically you will need another source for the Boron. I know Boron is generally applied at 1 or 2 pounds per acre, you don't need much and too much is detrimental.

We never use chemicals for any of our garden seedlings/transplants. We are fortunate a local grower sells organic seed starting/growing potting soil made from composted manure and organic nutrients.

Just transplanted the toms outside today. Under each plant went a handfull of compost (mostly manure) and about 1 1/2 Tbs. of crushed eggshells.

We just plant them and water them. We transplant in the evening so they don't immediately sit in the hot sun all day. We also wrap a small strip of wax paper loosely around the stem where it comes out of the ground to stop cutworms.
