Sorry to hear about that. We have slugs and aphids for the first year ever, both giving our cold crops fits.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Be sure NOT to plant any vining crops in that area next year. Those darn borers are terrible and will take over in a single night.

C Moschata squash generally cannot get borers.

Did you get any harvest at all? I thought SVB attacked the vine, not the fruit? So sorry, this is the buggiest year I can remember. At least I heard from state lab that the swarming insects exterminator said were ants but I thought looked like wasp WERE actually a beneficial wasp that preys on Japanese beetle grubs.

SVB does attack the vine, but the fruit usually goes bad if not totally ripe and can be picked immediately.

Yeh, for the wasp that will take on those Japanese bettles. My beetles like to eat a weed I call 'smart weed'. They like it so much, they leave my other plants alone (except peaches).
