Has anyone grown podding radishes for market? If so how did you market them and how did you price them? Thanks!

I sold them by the "branch" for $1/each, called them Asian radish pods for stir-fry, salad or pickling. Most people bought them after one taste!

Thanks for the reply. This item has sold quite well. Not a hugh $$ return but it adds interest to the table. Just purchased some more seed. Do you know how well they do in the heat? One seed source recommends growing in the spring/fall, another says it grows nicely all summer long. Also noticed there are a couple of different varieties out there. So far have just tried Rattail. Have you grown any other varieties?
Thanks again,
Glenda

Sorry for the space-out---too much to do!
I have only grown rat-tail. They seemed okay in hotweather as long as they are picked promptly and not left to get tough.

We only get 3 good pickings out of each planting, then they go down hill... We charge $3 a heavy pint, and ALWAYS sell out...

Hmeadq what variety do you use?

I let some daikon go to seed and the pods were delicious.

I'm growing these for the first time. Johnny's Seeds sells them as "podding radish." We are growing for our own use--they're great in salads but I would love some recipes. I have read that they're used in Indian cooking but can't find any recipes. I'd love to hear how people cook with them! And can they be preserved?

Pickle them. You can just add them to a jar of pickles in the fridge or for a more shelf stable item use your favorite pickle recipe. Awesomely cool in a Bloody Mary!
